PHOTOS: 1968 Volkswagen microbus conversion
Leif's is transforming a classic 1968 Volkswagen microbus into a state-of-the-art alternative fuel drivetrain, encompassing the latest in electric motors, lithium-ion batteries, solar panels on the expansive roof, and a natural gas-fired generator to increase the van’s range. That’s the good news for the underside of the van. The old Microbus will be taken down to bare metal, repaired to like-new condition, and then built back up into a showpiece of modern technology and style.
The project is slated for completion in the summer of 2012 and you can follow the photographic journey here.
