Leif’s Expands Charitable Giving – Partners with Susan G. Komen For The Cure
In the month of March, Leif’s undertook a campaign to raise awareness of the need for public school assistance by promising to donate a dollar to school support organizations serving kids across Oregon for every person who “liked” Leif’s Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/leifsautocenters) during the month.
“We’ve raised three children in Oregon, and we don’t see why any child should have go to school without the basic necessities,” Hansen says.
By the end of the campaign, almost 2300 people had responded. Hansen decided to round the number up to $2500, divided among five worthwhile organizations serving our kids. The five organizations benefiting from Leif’s action are the Portland Schools Foundation (www.thinkschools.org), Oregon Education Foundation (www.oregoned.org), Oregon Music Teachers Association (www.oregonmta.org), Tigard-Tualatin Schools Foundation (www.foundation4smartkids.org), and the Oregon School Activities Association (www.osaa.org).
In addition Leif’s has donated opportunities to enjoy the Willamette and Columbia Rivers aboard Relentless Northwest Charters (www.relentlessnw.com) to the Tigard High School benefit auction. The donation included a charter trip on the luxury yacht Relentless, and a Columbia River fishing charter on the fast Relentless II fishing boat. Tigard High School raised $1,850 from the charters donated to the school’s annual auction.
Now, as the local presenting sponsor of the Portland Race For The Cure, Leif’s will be integral to the support of the Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation in Oregon. Leif & Carol will be on hand at the race, with a large contingent of Leif’s employees donning the event shirts and competing in the race. Look for more activities in support of the Komen Oregon foundation in the months to come.
