Valentine’s Day ideas

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’ve compiled a list of events, restaurants and more that you can enjoy with your significant other.

Many higher-end restaurants have probably booked up by now but if you still hold out hope for getting a reservation, you can go online, to Portland Open Table to see many area restaurants.

Another cool, lower-key way to celebrate the day is signing up for a cooking class, so the two of you can learn to make dishes you only thought possible ordering from a restaurant.

Travel Oregon also compiled a list for the adventurous couple, including a trip to the mountain or an evening out in downtown Portland.

Not to be out-done, PDX Pipeline highlights one of the quirkier events, the 25th annual Lip Print Contest at the Virginia Café in downtown Portland.

Any time between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. while at the café, write your name and phone number and the category you are entering (size, shape, color or alluring) where your lip print is on. You needn’t be present when winners are selected. Each of the four winners will receive a $50 gift certificate to the café.

There’s also foie gras, which is part of a delicious-sounding five-course meal from Brasserie Montmartre in Southwest Portland.

The delicacy is the first of five dishes entitled ‘Sweet Potato Chip,’ it’s served as an apple foie gras mousse. Each of the five courses is paired with wine (60 dollars) but can also be had without imbibing (40 dollars).
