Car care, service help 93-year-old woman drive ’64 vehicle 576,000 miles

Wondering why routine service to your vehicle is so important? Look no further than 93-year-old Rachel Veitch, who accumulated nearly 600,000 miles on her 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente.

The legally blind Veitch is finally giving up the car because she swerved into an impassable roadblock, FOX News reports.

Veitch drove the car 576,000 miles – an incredible feat for a ‘60s car, which goes to show with regular mechanical service a car can last a lifetime.

All it took, MSN points out, was 18 batteries, eight mufflers, three sets of shocks and an endless run of oil changes. If she got regular oil changes (every 3,000 miles) it would amount to nearly 200.
